Citizen and Southern Bank, known as C&S Bank, was founded on July 28, 1871 as the First National Bank of Newnan with W.B. Berry as President. The First National Bank absorbed Newnan and Trust Bank in December 1930, which had failed during the Great Depression. After several other bank consolidations, the bank was renamed Citizen and Southern Bank on February 28, 1955. The C&S Bank Newnan branch moved to its location on the corner of Greenville Street and Spring Street in 1957 where it remained until it closed in the late 1990's. A Second location was obtained on Bullsboro Boulevard. The majority of the photographs in this collection were taken at this location.

Citizen and Southern Bank, known as C&S Bank, was founded on July 28, 1871 as the First National Bank of Newnan with W.B. Berry as President. The First National Bank absorbed Newnan and Trust Bank in December 1930, which had failed during the Great Depression. After several other bank consolidations, the bank was renamed Citizen and Southern Bank on February 28, 1955. The C&S Bank Newnan branch moved to its location on the corner of Greenville Street and Spring Street in 1957 where it remained until it closed in the late 1990's. A Second location was obtained on Bullsboro Boulevard. The majority of the photographs in this collection were taken at this location.

An account of the resource
Citizen and Southern Bank, known as C&S Bank, was founded on July 28, 1871 as the First National Bank of Newnan with W.B. Berry as President. The First National Bank absorbed Newnan and Trust Bank in December 1930, which had failed during the Great Depression. After several other bank consolidations, the bank was renamed Citizen and Southern Bank on February 28, 1955. The C&S Bank Newnan branch moved to its location on the corner of Greenville Street and Spring Street in 1957 where it remained until it closed in the late 1990's. A Second location was obtained on Bullsboro Boulevard. The majority of the photographs in this collection were taken at this location.

The contract for the old Newnan Post Office was awarded to Algernon Blair of Montgomery, Alabama, for a sum of $47,868.92. The building was constructed on the southeast corner of Greenville and Spring Street and completed in July of 1911. This building was used until 1967, when it was demolished.
