Description
A district church meeting held in 1945 drew a large crowd at the Jones Hill United Methodist Church on Walk Carmichael Road. The Rev. R.W. Sutton, kneeling in the center with the basket, was pastor. This photo is provided by Claudia Mae Powell Berry, who is the little girl on the front row, second from left, with her hand over her eye. It was given by her aunt, Gertrude Paige. At far left is her mother, Lena Powell Hall, holding her brother Walter Powell. Some of the others in the group are, not in order, Joe Wimbley, Lewis Andrews, the Rev. J.W. Queen, the Rev. C.W. Bridges, the Rev. Webster McMillian, the Rev. E.H. Lee, Essie Lee Jones, Annie Arnold, Gertrude Paige, Elizabeth Sutton, Sallie Willie Jones, Lurlene Melson, Melvin Smith, Millard Smith, Frank Smith, Willie Carlile, Inew Smith, Ruby Ball, Cora Farmer, Euvenia Farmer, Alonzo Paige and Annie Hall.
