Description
These students and school officials are in front of the old Western School building, which burned in March 1949. The photo, provided by Mrs. Mary Effie Bridges, is from her husband Dan Bridges' family. He shows it to customers at the Dan Bridges Grocery, a small store just past the current Western School on Welcome Road. This photo was probably made in 1937 or 1938 at an Arbor Day Ceremony. Among those pictured are Coweta County Schools Superintendents J. Marvin Starr and Western Principal Henry Coleman. Others recognized are Dan Bridges, Lynn Ware, Ben Bridges, William Ware, Margaret Lazenby Van Houten, Mary John Crain, R.E. Storey, Hollis Boone, Herman Butler, Jasper Masdon, Donald Summer, Eldridge Hardegree, Dwight Hester, Pete Green, Grace Davis Ingram, Mildred Pope, Julie Bridges Summer, Martha Millans Barber, Ann Sherrer Barfield, J.B. Pete Lazenby, Luther Beavers Jr., Rayford Storey, Jackson Stephens, W.Y. Summer Jr., Theald Allen and Alfred Lazenby.
