MRS. AND MRS. T.L. LANG, SR.
Subject
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Land, Sr.
Description
These photos from Thomas L. Land, Sr. show him and his wife, the late Mrs. Sara Starr Lang. The photo of Mr. Lang shows him in his World War One uniform. Lang grew up close to the Happy Valley area of the county. When he was called to serve in WWI, Mr. Lang was selling railroad tickets at the old station on Savannah Street in Newnan. He was assistant agent for three railroads, he said. He later worked in the railroad business in Atlanta before he married a young woman from an old Coweta County family, Sara Starr. They were married at the bride's family home - the Jim D. Starr home close to Roscoe - and enjoyed 63 years together until Mrs. Lang died about two years ago. The couple did not stay in Coweta County - living in Hapeville a number of years - but kept in touch with the family here. Mrs. Lang is pictured after they were married with a prize she won in a flower show. Mr. Lang was 93 this past November and is currently living with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Jordan, in Wilmington, N.C.
