The Newnan reading circle members in this group were gathered for a meeting January 5, 1950, at the home of Miss Mary Ella Camp. This organization was established in 1909 and is now Newnan's oldest continuous cultural club. The membership has always been limited to 20, plus the wives of the ministers of individual members are invited to become honorary members. The ladies in this 1950 photo include, from left, front, Mrs. Charlie Morgan, Mrs. Ysabel Odom, Miss Annie Mae Robinson, Mrs. Ada Smith, Mrs. N.B. Hudson, Mrs. Catherine Glass; center, Miss Carrie May McElroy, Mrs. Virginia St. John; back, Mrs. Sam Banks, Mrs. Byrd Barks, Mrs. Lovic Sewell, Mrs. Julia Bowen, Mrs. Kathleen Latimer, Miss Mary Ella Camp, Mrs. Eleanor Hubbard, Miss Bessie Arnold and Mrs. Nora Price.
