Hutchinson Motor Company
Description
The Ford automobile dealership in Senoia was operated by Hutchinson Motor Company on Main Street from 1928 until 1947. It was owned by J.B. Hutchinson, Sr. During the years of World War II, civilian automobiles were unavailable; so Mr. Hutchinson began operating a hardware store on the premises in 1942. Hutchinson Hardware is now operated at the same location by J.B. Hutchinson, Jr. This photo of a Ford automobile in front of the store in 1928 is provided by the younger Hutchinson and his sister, Eleanor H. Smith. Jimmy Hutchinson remembers from his childhood that cars and trucks would be delivered one at a time at night by drivers - rather than several vehicles on a large truck as they are delivered today. He also mentioned that the mechanic for the motor company was Hiram Todd.
