This unique classroom view shows the 1928 or 1929 sixth grade class of the old Atkinson Grammar School, located on Nimmons Street in Newnan. The teacher was Mrs. Helen Buchanan. The students have been identified as, first row, front to back, Cornelia Coleman, Lavonia hicks, Robert Crain, Wilma Tarpley, Faye Puckett, Earl North, Lavonia Crawford; second row, front to back, Johnny Burnham, Dudley Thornton, Nell Blalock, Andrew Nations, Richard Kilgore, Arnold Bowers; third row, front to back, Eloise Askew, Robert Young, Mary Reeves, Bill Doster, Peter Potts, Christine Williams, Sam Hooten; fourth row, Ruth Woods, Eunice Gill, Doyle Stamps, (one unknown), Willie Poague, Jeanette Bunn; standing, left to right, Dorothy Murray, Mary Lynn Wood, Ross Arnold, (one unknown), Zack Davis, Dorsey Thompson, Vance Wingo, (one unknown), Sara Blakely and Martha Miller.
