Description

The second grade students of Atkinson Grammar School on Nimmons Street in Newnan gathered on the steps for this 1924 or 1925 photograph. Mrs. B.B. Mabson was the school principal and, and Mrs. Ada Chapman was the teacher. Mrs. Mildred (Cliff) Loftin, shown in the photograph, was the substitute teacher for Mrs. Chapman. The students are, from left, front, Eunice Gill, Ruth Woods, Dorothy Murray, Jimmie Alford, Merle Parker, Eloise Askew, Daisy May Balton, Isabel Dalton, Grace Puckett, Nell Johnson, Faye Puckett, Cornelia Coleman; second row, Robert Gravette, Robert Young, Aaron Keheley, Doyle Stamps, (one unknown), Pete Potts, Elmo Causey, John Couch, Earl North, James Martin; third row, Dorsey Thompson, Tom Parrott, Tom Shackelford, Bill Doster, Sam Hooten, (one unknown), Dudley Thornton.
