This group photo shows one of Coweta county's families about 1940. Gathered around A.J. "Berry" Murphy and his wife Etna Belinda Carter Murphy are their children, in-laws and grandchildren at the A.J. Murphy Home. It is provided by Lena Latimer Murphy (Mrs. Hewlette Carter Murphy). The home, still standing, is about seven miles west of Newnan and two and a half miles west of Sargent on Wagers Mill Road. Left to right are, front, Alton Ira Murphy, Eloise Murphy, Etna Carter Murphy, A.J. "Berry" Murphy, Amos Murphy (son of Glenn and Vena Pope Murphy), Lillian Murphy (Mrs. Arthur Storey), Jimmy Murphy (son of Buford and Elizabeth Couch Murphy), Buford Murphy holding his son Charles Murphy, and Carole Murphy (Busby), (Jimmy, Charles and Carole are children of Buford and Elizabeth Couch Murphy.) On the back row are, from left, Vera Latimer Murphy (first wife of Alton Ira Murphy, who after his death, was married to Ward "Jack" Dempsey), Glenn and Vena Pope Murphy, their daughter Sara (Collins) in from of them, Geraldine (Collins) also the daughter of Glenn and Vena Murphy, Katie Sue Storey (Mrs. Amos Murphy), and Amos Murphy, their son Billy in front of them, Evelyn Story (Robinson) who is the daughter of Arthur and Lillian Story, Arthur Story, Lena Latimer Murphy (Mrs. H.C. Murphy), Hewlette Carter Murphy, and Elizabeth Couch Murphy (Mrs. Buford Murphy).
