These fourth grade students attended Starr High School in 1931 and are gathered on the steps of the school, which was located at the intersection of Highways 16 and 54. Their teacher was Mrs. Lena Johnson Shell, seated at right. Among the children in the group are Luther Breed, Verna Wood, Josephine Summers, Beaula Johnson, Miriam Moses, a Collins child, J.T. Williams Jr., Travis Adcock, Aaron Young, Haddon Arnall, Gail Osterhout, Harry Lee Maddox, Geraldine Cox, Virginia Morgan, Harley Bowers, Stanley Bexley, Walter Banks, Lorene Short, Lee Neely and Forrest Willis.
