Description

"Lady" the horse is shown in this photograph taken in Newnan about 1935. The boy holding the horse is Thomas Y. Mattox, Jr., who was later a pilot killed in World War II. Standing behind the horse is T.Y. Mattox, Sr. The Coca-Cola sign was on the Albert Potts Mule Stable located on the corner of West Broad Street and Brown Street, now the site of Atlanta Gas Light. Across the street was the Eugene Askew Lumber Company. The frame house up the street was the property of the Burpee estate.
