Description
This old photograph shows the interior of Ellis Mansour's Department Store in 1918 on the Court Square in a building later occupied by Hamilton and Company. According to a brief history in the Newnan Times-Herald Centennial Magazine, the dry goods business was begun in 1911 on Perry Street by Ellis Mansour, who had come from Lebanon to Atlanta in 1907. In the photo are founder Ellis Mansour and his son, Michael, who carried on the business until his own death in 1954. Behind the counter at the right is Nasor Mansour, who later moved to LaGrange.
