Description

The old Newnan High School, constructed about 1913, stood at Jackson Street and Temple Avenue. After the present Newnan High School building was constructed on LaGrange Street, the old building was used as a junior high stating in 1956. It closed after the school year ended in May 1973, and the modern O.P Evans Junior High off Hospital Road opened in the fall of 1973. The old Newnan High building was town down to make way for a city park planned as a project for the U.S. Bicentennial in 1976.
