Description

This group of students includes first through third graders from the Mary Ray School at Raymond in November 1934. The picture is provided by Mrs. James Stewart. She remembers the school went through eighth grade and had three teachers, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin, Mrs. Ora Johnson and Mrs. Lynn Wood. In the group are, from left, front, Phillip Harris, Lewis McKoon, Joseph Edwards, James Floyd, Fred Cox, Pope Bryan, William Orr, Harry Smith; middle row, Hoyt Smith, Raiford Hughie (brother of Mrs. Stewart, the former Nell Hughie), Donald Moore, Lanier Orr, Lewis Robertson, Milton Beckom, Bucky O-Brien, Edwin "Sug" Hughie (also a brother of Mrs. Stewart); back, Franklin Orr, Bessie Floyd, Grace Argroves, Ruby Smith, Loudine Payton, Annie Ruth Furlow, Ida Lee Beckom, Martha Moore and Willie Bell Cox.
