Temple Avenue Grammar School Class

Description

Gathered on the steps of the old Temple Avenue Grammar School in Newnan is a first grade class from 1923. The class was taught by Mrs. Odem, back right, and the school principal was Miss Maggie Brown, back left, after whom the current Maggie Brown Kindergarten on Clark Street was named. Most of the names of these fresh young faces are forgotten, but A.J. Spivey did remember some last names: Kersey, Mansour, Millians, Hardaway, Meriwether, Smith and Hubbard.
