Description
The family of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Marion Sewell of the Happy Valley area of northern Coweta County was photographed about 1896 or 1897 while visiting at the home of Miss Dee Hood in Roscoe. Mr. Sewell and his wife Jeanette Hobgood Sewell are shown with seven of their nine children. (A son, Atkinson, died in childhood and a son, Edward, now deceased, was born after the picture was made.) The photograph was provided by JeNeill Sewell, daughter of Charlie Moses Sewell who is pictured in front between his parents. Lounette Sewell (Copeland-Chatham), shown on her mother's lap, celebrated her 92nd birthday on July 26, 1987. Standing, left to right, are Gholston "Buck" Sewell; Octavia Sewell (Beall-Sms) who died October 16, 1987, at the age of 101; Stella Sewell (Gable); Willie Sewell (Broadwater); and Nora Sewell (who married a Sewell).
